Native American mounds at Devil's Lake

The mounds

Mounds are small hills, that the Indians built with earth. You are not allowed to step onto the mounds because they are sacred for the Indian people. Only sometimes they were used as graves, sometimes no dead bodies were found inside. The Indians used them for cultural ceremonies and rituals.
Around Devil's there are some mounds, one of them has the shape of an lynx. The Native Americans used to put tobacco on them. Today the mounds are still important for the Native Americans.
